Tidal Testing Centre - Den Oever

Welcome to the Tidal Testing Centre

  • The sluices at Den Oever provide excellent opportunities for Tidal Energy Testing. Water flow speeds range from 0 to 4,5 m/sec, depending on the tide
  • In total, 32 identical sluices are present, of which a limited number can be used for testing purposes, given that required permits are in place.
  • The basic function of the sluices is to discharge the water from the IJsselmeer to the Waddenzee, 2 times per day
  • This basic function of the discharge sluices always remains dominant; testing equipment therefore will be placed in a way that it can be removed or lifted in case of emergency.
